Michael Alvarez, PhD, Flintridge Foundation Professor of Political and Computational Social Science at Caltech and Co-Director, Linde Center for Science, Society, and Policy (LCSSP).
Dr. Alvarez’s guest for this episode will be Ben Adida, PhD, Founder and Executive Director of VotingWorks. Dr. Adida will discuss his latest work in election technology, and share his thoughts on potential uses for AI in election administration plus so much more. Drs. Adida and Alvarez will also reflect on the formation and work of the Caltech/MIT Voting Technology Project over the past quarter of a century.
Ben Adida is the Founder and Executive Director of VotingWorks, a non-profit maker of voting equipment based in the United States. Dr. Adida has worked on voting technology since 1998, and also has extensive experience in online identity, payments, health IT, security & privacy, and Web architecture. Prior to founding VotingWorks, Dr. Adida served as VP of Engineering at Clever, Director of Engineering at Square, Director of Engineering at Mozilla, Research Faculty at Harvard Medical School / Children's Hospital Boston, and research fellow with the Center for Research on Computation and Society at Harvard. Dr. Adida earned his PhD from MIT's Cryptography and Information Security group.
